The best engagement photoshoot locations in Worcestershire and the Midlands

By the Boundless Outdoors team. Last updated: October 2026

A good engagement photoshoot should feel like a day out that happens to have a camera at it. If the thought of standing stiffly beside a tree while someone says “closer, closer” makes you want to hide under a blanket, you’re far from alone, and the right setting makes a real difference to how relaxed you feel.

Worcestershire and the wider Midlands are full of good places for it, from hilltop views and bluebell woods to a Victorian railway station and a ridge of cave homes. Whether you’d rather turn up with a flask, a dog or a picnic blanket, there’s a spot here that will feel like a day out you’d choose anyway.

Quick answer: Some of the best engagement photoshoot locations in Worcestershire and the Midlands are Worcester Woods Country Park, The Old Hills at Callow End, Worcestershire Beacon in the Malvern Hills, the Clent Hills, Bodenham and Arley arboretums, Kinver Edge, Great Malvern Station, Avoncroft Museum, and Digbeth in Birmingham.

Ten engagement photoshoot locations in Worcestershire and the Midlands

Laura Jenkinson is a wedding photographer based in Worcestershire, and these are two of her favourite local spots for an engagement photoshoot. For her advice on feeling relaxed in front of the camera, read Laura’s engagement shoot tips.

1. Laura’s Pick: Worcester Woods Country Park

“If I was going to choose a location for an engagement photoshoot, some of my favourite spots include Worcester Woods, especially in springtime as it’s covered in bluebells.”

2. Laura’s Pick: The Old Hills, Callow End

“I also love The Old Hills in Callow End. They are like Malvern’s little sister and on a clear day offer beautiful views across to Malvern or Worcester City.”

3. Worcestershire Beacon, Malvern

We might be biased, because The Canopy, the Boundless Outdoors wedding venue at our Malvern centre, sits among woodland at the end of these hills, but we think you can’t beat Malvern for an engagement photo shoot.

The Malvern Hills are a designated National Landscape (formerly an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), and the Beacon is the highest point in Worcestershire, with a 360-degree view across the Three Counties and beyond. Walk up from Great Malvern via St Ann’s Well and you’ll find big skies and a toposcope at the summit that names the distant landmarks you’re squinting at. It can sometimes be a bit windy up there, so let your hair do what it likes. If you’d rather picnic than climb, British Camp further south is an Iron Age hill fort with more sheltered picnic spots.

4. Clent Hills

Just a short drive from Bell Heath, our other wedding venue, this National Trust hillside comes with a very good joke. The Four Stones at the top look ancient but were put up in the 18th century by Lord Lyttelton of Hagley Hall as a folly, so you can pose as if you’ve discovered lost history while standing beside a very convincing fake. On a clear day the view reaches the Black Mountains in Wales and there’s a café at Nimmings Wood for a hot chocolate afterwards. Dogs are welcome, with lead rules in some areas.

 5. Bodenham Arboretum and Arley Arboretum

Autumn is when these two Worcestershire arboretums come into their own, as their large tree collections turn red, gold, and orange. Bodenham’s central pools mirror the colour, so mid-to-late afternoon brings the softest, warmest light. Arley’s quiet, historic woodland paths catch the light best from late morning to midday, which gives you bright conditions without heavy shadows. Both charge an entry fee and may also charge a professional photography fee, so it’s worth a phone call before you book.

6. Kinver Edge and the Rock Houses, Staffordshire

Sitting on the border of Worcestershire and Staffordshire, this sandstone ridge of heath and woodland hides the Holy Austin Rock Houses. These homes were carved into the cliff and were the last cave dwellings in England to be lived in, right up to the mid-20th century. A photo in front of a door cut into solid rock will have your friends asking which film set you found. The woodland walks are open from dawn to dusk, while the Rock Houses and tearoom keep their own opening times, so check before you go and avoid busy weekends if you can. It’s a good one for dog owners too.

7. Great Malvern Station

Yes, a railway station, and a very handsome one. Great Malvern opened in 1860, is Grade II listed and has cast iron canopies held up by sculpted flowers that have recently been restored. A suitcase, a cup of tea and a pair of coordinating scarves will do most of the styling for you. Lady Foley’s Tea Room sits in a waiting room built for a Victorian benefactor and at the far end of platform two, is a gated tunnel nicknamed ‘The Worm’ that once led to a hotel across the road. It’s a working station, so check the tea room’s opening hours, keep clear of the platform edge and ask before bringing a photographer with extra kit.

8. Avoncroft Museum, Bromsgrove

Avoncroft is an open-air museum of rescued historic buildings and it is delightfully strange. It’s home to the National Telephone Kiosk Collection, which means a row of red boxes where you can pretend to ring home with your engagement news, alongside a working windmill, a fully furnished 1940s prefab and more than 30 restored buildings. The museum has its own photography and filming arrangements, so speak to the team before you book a photographer.

9. Digbeth, Birmingham

Most of our picks are in the countryside (we are an outdoor centre, after all), but if you fancy something urban, head for Digbeth. The streets around the Custard Factory, once home to Bird’s Custard, are packed with street art, including work under the arches next door. The murals change often, so have a wander beforehand to see what’s there and be sure to wear something bold or something plain, because the walls bring plenty of colour of their own.

10. Bell Heath or The Canopy, Boundless Outdoors

We couldn’t resist finishing with one of our own. Couples can now book an engagement shoot at either of the Boundless Outdoors woodland wedding venues. Bell Heath, near Belbroughton and a short drive from the Clent Hills, has ancient woodland and open fields to wander through, while The Canopy at our Malvern centre sits among woodland at the end of the Malvern Hills, with a balcony up in the treetops.

It’s a lovely way to do two things at once. You come away with relaxed photos in a setting that suits you plus you get to see a potential wedding venue properly: walk the grounds, picture where your guests would gather and dance and chat to our team about what a wedding weekend could look like. Bring your photographer, a flask, and the dog if you like, and take your time.

What next?

Once the engagement photos are done, the next question tends to be where you’ll celebrate. Boundless Outdoors offers exclusive weekend wedding hire at two woodland centres: Bell Heath, surrounded by ancient woodland near Belbroughton, and The Canopy at our Malvern centre, set among the treetops. Hire runs from Friday afternoon and includes on-site accommodation for your guests and an event hall for dancing. There’s no corkage charge either, so you can bring the drinks you love.

It’s worth knowing early that neither centre holds a wedding or alcohol licence. Couples apply for their own Temporary Event Notice (TEN), a short-term permission from your local council that covers drinks and music on the day.

“Our Boundless wedding was exactly what we could have hoped for, it was relaxed, open and intimate. The Boundless team were helpful, thoughtful and full of fun. We had so much fun and freedom enjoying our festival inspired wedding day on Bell Heath’s beautiful grounds. Thank you for an unforgettable weekend.” Mr and Mrs Corrall, Bell Heath
